Chinook Follows Up Four Previous Awards This Year by Winning the Prestigious International Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice, to be presented in a ceremony at the Houses of Parliament in November.

11th August  2014 -‐   Nottingham, UK –– Leading clean-‐tech  group, Chinook Sciences, has received further industry and public recognition for its world-‐leading technology with the International Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice, the first time  the  Award  has  been  won  by  an  advanced  thermal  Energy  from  Waste technology.   Chinook will be presented with the Award at a ceremony in November at the Houses of Parliament.

This coveted international Award is in recognition of the environmental benefits of its advanced thermal treatment technology (RODECS), and global importance of this technology in defining the standard for what the Circular Economy can achieve for resource efficiency in the waste, automotive, and metal recycling industries.

The latest generation RODECS technology is now being commissioned in Oldbury, which is the world’s largest industrial waste gasification plant. This plant has been developed in partnership with Warrington-‐based  European Metal Recycling (EMR), the leading global metal recycling company that is renowned for its leading environmental and technology initiatives. Recently this plant won the best EFW initiative award, and it represents Chinook flagship plant.

The Green Apple Awards have been established since 1994 and are now well established as one of the world’s foremost environment awards campaigns.  The Awards are presented by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-‐political, non-‐profit organisation that recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world.  Previous Award winners include Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rouke, Heathrow Airport, Carlsberg and the Environment Agency. As a result of winning this award, Chinook expected to go on to represent the United Kingdom in the European Business Awards for the Environment in 2014/15 as one of the most innovative businesses in Europe.

Dr Rifat Chalabi, Chinook Sciences’ Group Chairman and CEO, said, ‘We are delighted that our technology continues to gain recognition from the global Environmental industry as the clear market leader in advanced thermal treatment of a wide variety of wastes.    Our technology recovers more valuable metal, and generates more energy per tonne of waste processed, than any other Energy from Waste system in the market. The unprecedented number of awards that our technology is winning is clear evidence that we have achieved something truly unique.’
